What exactly does full spectrum CBD oil mean?
Full spectrum is my go-to and here is why…
Full spectrum includes all the essential oil, terpenes, and cannabinoids that are found in cannabis, in this case, cannabidiol (CBD). There are about 540 unique chemical compounds found in cannabis, and we know of about 113 of those compounds. Because of the compounds that have yet to be discovered, this makes cannabis such a hard subject to study. What we do know is that the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is the largest receptor system in our body and is referred to as the “master regulator”, making the ECS critical in maintaining homeostasis (balance) in our body and helps regulate our brain, endocrine, and immune function (Letscher, 2018).
One study stated that CBD has shown to help with depression, anxiety, epilepsy, have powerful anti-inflammatory properties, help manage chronic pain, help with nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, reduce spasticity in multiple sclerosis and paraplegics, sleep disorders, Tourette syndrome, depression, and reduce intraocular pressure associated with glaucoma (Lafaye, Karila, Blecha, Benyamina, 2017 and Letscher, 2018). The study also went on to state that cannabinoids were show to be a safer alternative for pain management than opiates or benzodiazepines (Letscher, 2018).
