The terms hemp, cannabis, and marijuana are often used interchangeably (depending on who you are talking to), which can make things very confusing for some. Hemp is the plant that is considered non-psychoactive due to the low percent of THC per dry weight. Hemp is an amazing plant and includes many different cannabinoids like CBD, CBG, CBN, etc . The specific compound called cannabidiol (CBD) has many therapeutic benefits. CBD is the second most abundant ingredient in cannabis, including marijuana. A few listed benefits CBD include aid in epilepsy, chronic pain management (by inhibiting inflammatory and neuropathic pain), anxiety, and was also shown to improve sleep patterns (Grinspoon, 2020).
