What does the nation’s leading medical research agency say about CBD and its impact on mood?
According to the National Institute of Health cannabidiol (CBD) affects serotonin regulation positively, boosting mood, and was shown to help in situations where heightened stress may occur (De Gregorio, et al., 2019). If you are not familiar with serotonin, it is the hormone that gives us a sense of happiness, offers a sense of wellbeing, helps balance our mood, and is commonly referred to as the happy hormone. The study then goes on to state that CBD is the non-psychoactive and nonaddictive compound found in cannabis that was shown to give heightened sensitivity, offer euphoric relaxation, offer relief from anxiety, help control chronic & neuropathic pain, relieve agitation that could be associated with social anxiety disorders, and offer a sense of calmness (De Gregorio, et al., 2019). Talk about turning that frown upside down!
