According to Cancers, a peer reviewed medical journal, breast cancer has the highest rate of new diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of death in women (Seltzer, Watters, MacKenzie, Granat, Zhang, 2020).
🌲
CBD was shown to attack breast cancer cell lines, keeping the breast cancer cells at check due to the CBD’s anti-proliferative effects (Seltzer, Watters, MacKenzie, Granat, Zhang, 2020).
♻️
The antiproliferative effects that CBD has on breast cancer cells included cell death (apoptosis), the breakdown and consumption of other cells (autophagy), and cell cycle arrest (Seltzer, Watters, MacKenzie, Granat, Zhang, 2020).
🐝
These effects are due to CBD interacting with the endocannabinoid receptors which was shown to play a role in reducing Reactive Oxidative Stress (ROS), which creates highly unstable molecules. This could be due to CBD’s antioxidant poperties (Seltzer, Watters, MacKenzie, Granat, Zhang, 2020). ROS was shown to negatively impact our proteins, DNA, and lipids and possibly set them up for mutagenic changes (which is not a good thing) (Seltzer, Watters, MacKenzie, Granat, Zhang, 2020). ROS was also shown to play a role in the development and progression of cancers and reducing this occurancce could play part in a lot of disease pathologies (Liou, Storz, 2010).
🌲
The study then went on to state that when increased levels of CBD were administered, cell death (apoptosis) increased, which is an amazing thing to document (Seltzer, Watters, MacKenzie, Granat, Zhang, 2020).
♻️
The study concluded that CBD “coordinates” cell death and initiates the natural response to getting rid of old, sick, and dying cells (autophagy) (Seltzer, Watters, MacKenzie, Granat, Zhang, 2020).This response to cleaning out the cells is basically how the body takes out the trash.

I am excited to see how more studies unfold in the future. We are just tapping into what these plant compounds are really capable of.
