CBD and Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is a serious diagnosis for women and can be life threatening. In fact, over 340,000 women die yearly around the world from cervical cancer. In the United States alone about 14,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer yearly, with over 4,000 deaths happening annually (1).

Cervical cancer takes place within the cervix, which is the lower end of the uterus, where the uterus and vaginal canal meet. When abnormal cells start to form in the cervical tissue, there can be an increased risk for the formation of cancer cells and a higher chance of getting a diagnosis that no one wants to hear.

Cervical cancer can be resistant to conventional treatment because of the cervical cancer stem cells, but there is much hope when discussing the potential anticancer properties of cannabinoids such as CBD and THC (1).

CBD was shown to inhibit cervical cancer cell growth and induce cell death (apoptosis), which is a bold statement (3). Check this out!

According to BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies, a peer reviewed medical journal, CBD was shown to affect cervical cancer cell lines, reduce cell proliferation (ability to survive and thrive), and cause programmed cell death at varying concentrations (3).

BMC went on to state that CBD was not only able to inhibit cervical cancer cell proliferation, but it was also shown to inhibit cervical cancer cell growth, and reduced inflammation (3).

BMC concluded that CBD was also shown to be effective for neurodegenerative disorders, autoimmune diseases, and certain cancers like breast cancer and prostate cancer were also shown to have anti-cancer properties that were exhibited on cervical cancer cells (3).

CBD and THC can exhibit most of their anti-cancer properties when paired together, indicating that there are synergistic properties that allow these plant compounds to have a greater potential when used together.

This is one reason why we need to push for legalization. There are many people that can benefit from these plant compounds when it comes to the anticancer properties that were displayed in this study. The anti-cancer properties that CBD exhibits on cervical cancer is just one of the benefits that CBD has to offer. More studies need to be done to see which cancers these phytocannabinoids are affective against… Man needs all the help against cancer and chronic disease that we can.

The studies are being conducted and the results are being published, so why isn’t this information reaching the public? This study that discusses the anticancer and antiproliferative effects of CBD on cervical cancer was published in 2016.

I wonder how many people were told about the anti-cancer properties these plant compounds exhibit in the past 6 years… I think we both already know that answer, which is why I am sharing it.

Cheers to these safe, effective, and anticancer plant compounds!

Bee-Well,
